Research and innovation are the driving forces behind technological progress and make an essential contribution to addressing societal challenges. For many years, we have successfully supported and guided these developments for our clients. We have consolidated our strengths into three business areas: „Energy and Climate“, „Sustainable Development and Innovation“, and „Research and Society NRW“.

Energy and Climate

Funding new energy technologies, integrating renewables, and launching alternative mobility concepts on the market are key elements of a sustainable energy supply and climate protection policies. Since being founded in 1974, we have been implementing the energy research programmes of the German Federal Government.

Sustainable Development and Innvation

The transformation towards sustainable living is the key challenge facing society. In the business area "Sustainable Development and Innovation", we provide stimulus at national and international level in the fields of sustainability and the circular economy, applied basic energy and hydrogen research, bioeconomy, marine, coastal and polar research, geosciences, maritime technologies, life sciences and health research, as well as materials research and chemistry.

Research and Society NRW

As the largest federal state in Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia focuses on research, technological development, and innovation when seeking to strengthen its growth and competitiveness. It particularly looks to promote the strengths and potential of various regions.
