Energy and Climate


Funding new energy technologies, integrating renewables, and launching alternative mobility concepts on the market are key elements of a sustainable energy supply and climate protection policies. Since being founded in 1974, we have been implementing the energy research programmes of the German Federal Government. We now pool more than 45 years of expertise in the business area Energy and Climate and oversee the implementation of the 7th Energy Research Programme and other energy research policy initiatives, such as regulatory sandboxes in the energy sector, the Smart Energy Showcases funding programme, and the National Innovation Programme Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). We also finance projects in rural areas on behalf of the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food (BLE). Moreover, we fund projects dedicated to modernizing municipal facilities on behalf of the Federal Institute for Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Research (BBSR).
